Sara is a native Californian, born in Los Angeles and grew up in Long Beach attending Long Beach schools through receiving a MA in Psychology at Cal State University LB.She now resides in Fullerton with her husband, Jim.Jim and Sara have six children. Sara worked for many years as a Mental Health Counselor and Psychologist both in the public and private sector.After the birth of youngest child, Katie, she became very involved in serving her local church.It was at this time that Sara began teaching Adult Education classes at Laguna Niguel Presbyterian Church as well as joining the staff as Director of Children’s Ministry.Through that experience she began to discern a call to ministry.
She attended San Francisco Theological Seminary, graduating with the Master's of Divinity degree in 2001. She completed a nine-month internship at Morningside Presbyterian Church as part of her seminary education.Upon completing seminary, Sara served on staff at Tustin Presbyterian Church as Coordinator of Christian Education while completing the Pastoral Clinical Training Program at the Crystal Cathedral.She was ordained to Ministry by the Presbytery of Los Ranchos on November 10, 2002.
Sara has served three congregations since her ordination.At First Presbyterian Church of Fullerton she served as Interim Associate Pastor of Christian Education and as Acting Co-Head of Staff.She then received a call from Westminster Presbyterian Church in Westlake Village, CA. where she served as Associate Pastor.Then, she served First Presbyterian Church of Sherman Oaks as Interim Solo Pastor.She became the Pastor of Morningside Presbyterian Church in Mid-February, 2008.
Sara describes herself as an outgoing person who takes delight in people of all ages.While she is basically serious and contemplative, Sara has a strong sense of fun and truly loves the fellowship of the local church.She is passionate about all aspects of ordained ministry and especially loves teaching and preaching God’s Word.
Sara’s focus in ministry is on helping individuals and families understand themselves as moving along a path of spiritual formation.Consequently, her ministry is shaped by the need to provide a seeker-friendly atmosphere in which people can enter a spiritual community.
