MUSIKGARTEN FAMILY NIGHT

Could you hear that rhythm band made up of preschoolers and their families on Friday evening, January 20?  The sounds of songs and laughter in the church parlor filled the air as families danced to “Shake Those Persimmons Down” and “Hoedown,” followed the preschool leaders for a marching band, took an imaginary bus trip to MacDonald’s Farm to see baby pigs and feed the chickens, then circle danced to “Oh, Belinda” and “Looby Loo.” Cookies and lemonade were welcome refreshments after all that activity.

MUSIKGARTEN’s third year at Morningside Churchhas been just as much fun as its first year.  Second semester started Tuesday morning, January 24 for children ages 3 through 5 with a parent or grandparent.  Part of each 45-minute session is spent learning to sing on pitch and practicing duple and triple rhythm.  Teachers Lee Ann Donaldson and Sara Caswell are trained and licensed for this music and movement program for preschoolers by MUSIKGARTEN, a leading international music program.
